The Kingdom of God

In my prevent post, I talked about prioritising the kingdom of God. Today I want to take you further on what the kingdom of God is, so that we can seek after God with the right understanding. I pray this piece blesses you as you read to the end (amen).

According to the dictionary, Kingdom is described as a realm where God's will is done. It is a realm where God dominates. 

Jesus explained the concept of God's kingdom using many parables. Matthew chapter 31 documents some of these parables.

Let's examine one of the parables below:

Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares? He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up? But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

He gave an explanation of this parable, let's read in the message version:

So he explained. “The farmer who sows the pure seed is the Son of Man. The field is the world, the pure seeds are subjects of the kingdom, the thistles are subjects of the Devil, and the enemy who sows them is the Devil. The harvest is the end of the age, the curtain of history. The harvest hands are angels".

It is safe to say, that the kingdom of God comprises of God, the King and the subjects, believers. At the moment, the devil too has his subjects presently in the world, which is the field, with the intention to corrupt the good seeds of the kingdom.

We are here to mature just as the wheat in the parable above after which there shall be a sorting.

Knowing this, what should be our attitude as kingdom citizens? 

1.) We should give up everything to secure this kingdom. Give up the old life, reach out for the new. Give up your ambitions in exchange for His purpose for your life. Give up your old habit in exchange for the grace to form kingdom principled habit.

2.) We should daily concentrate on seeking. Seeking God's kingdom is a continuous thing. Daily, we must position ourselves to seek in the word of God the will of the Father. 

3.) Be under the influence of the Holy Spirit. This cannot be over-emphasized. The Holy Spirit is the one who searches the mind of God and bring to our mind the thoughts of God for us. He is the one who leads us in this journey as kingdom citizens.

You're not part of this kingdom if you've never confessed your sins and received the forgiveness of Christ Jesus. Why not today? His arms are ever ready to receive you. Make it a point of your turn around. Receive Jesus today.
